I am also interested in the Photography Graduate programs

45:44
I’m interested in the animation program :)

46:03
Fully Accredited? Regionally for all programs and degrees? For on campus AND online?

46:25
@Greg- Yes, Regionally, Yes, Yes

46:45
Got it, thank you.

47:13
Hi, I am interested in photography and/or photojournalism (not into tech/digital…more of a dark room, old soul kinda gal)

47:25
Im coming from business

47:39
@Greg- We also have programmatic accreditation if you are seeking NAAB (ARH) or CIDA (IAD)

47:59
Hi! I’m interested in interior architecture and design

48:12
MFA Photography, thanks.

49:27
I love the fact that the programs are online as I am located in LA and I am a full-time teacher so it would be very convenient. I am just hesitant to do online school. I am eager to learn more about the format and the communication between students and professors.

51:05
@Dena- We can go over some of the OL info for you. The good news is the OL programs are great. You can get the support and feedback you need, especially if you ae actively seeking the feedback.

52:51
thats me

53:22
Dena—just a shout out from another full time teacher —appreciate you and your comment! Hector—I’m also interested in both hybrid and OL- I’m just a bit north of the city.

55:14
I need books

55:51

56:41
@Emily- I am happy to help you go over all your options.

56:54
@Emily- Do you want me to contact you after the meeting?

57:20
I would like to learn more about payment options

57:49
@LJ- Are you a veteran?

57:54
I am

57:56
Yes, thank you Hector!

58:12
Marine Corps 8 years 9 months 26 days

58:27
@LJ- Are you working with anyone yet? I can make sure we get you setup with someone that knows how to help you with VA benefits.

58:31
I am fully registered

58:33
@Emily Good luck! 🙂

58:38
Luis

58:41
@Emily- Will do

59:08
Is a GRE score required?

59:29
@Brandi- No it's not

59:46
I have done his check list, and I am currently waiting for my dd-214

59:46
How many hours per week should I plan to dedicate to coursework if I study part-time?

59:47
@LJ- Awesome! Luis is great!

01:00:02
@LJ- He will help you out.

01:00:12

01:00:21
He has been amazing

01:00:22
What’s the deadline for application for the fall semester? (2022)

01:00:41
Are the graduate admissions reps specialized for the different areas? Just want to make sure I connect with the right person!

01:00:49
I was also planning on applying for the fall semester

01:01:29
I am interested in the Jewelry and Metal art

01:02:06
I am working on a massive project now

01:02:43
@Andy- the entire team is trained to work with all majors. Many of the Grad Team Members have been here 10+ years.

01:02:54
Wow, so inspiring

01:02:55
@LJ- Sounds cool!

01:03:16
https://gradshowcase.academyart.edu/

01:03:46
MA=36 units

01:03:50
MFA 63 units

01:03:52
@Sofia- We do not have a deadline but when you do apply we generally want to help you solidify all of your items in a short and sweet manner so your enrollment process and paperwork doesn't have to drag on.

01:04:22
I am looking for the better of the 2 with NAAB certifications

01:04:33
@Sofia- I always encourage students to apply earlier than later so it's easier to pick out classes while they are open and available and also have a longer runway to collect supplies and items they may need for school.

01:06:48
What is the approximate length of each program?

01:07:02
Ok, thank you!

01:07:19
That is pretty amazing

01:07:43
what happens if I’m not good at art.

01:07:56
I struggle drawling stick figures

01:08:06
You will be good 🙂

01:08:16
Which program is this project from again?

01:08:48
You’ll surprise yourself LJ! Thats how I felt with my undergrad and I surprised my self

01:10:05
@Brandi- If you are full time taking an MA- 36 units. Most students take 9 units in Fall, 9 units Spring, 6 Units in Summer= 24 units year (Just an examples because students start at all times during the year). So a full-time student would be able to complete an MA in 1 1/2-2yrs

01:10:06
lol I am a business major

01:11:09
thats me

01:11:46
so if I have my bachelors in art I should take MA? instead?

01:11:47
what would be the difference in degrees

01:12:15
I am doing Architecture now

01:12:21
Who else is interested in photography? Does any know if a student can study photography with an emphasis on photojournalism, specifically social justice issues? PS I’m an English major…

01:13:14
Do ether of the MA or MFA programs integrate internships?

01:13:50
So, the MFA would take almost 4 years like a Bachelor’s degree?

01:14:15
I am saying if I did 2 different focuses what would be the classes between the two. Also I am taking track 2.

01:14:22
The longer one

01:14:51
Documentary!! 🙂 Yes, that sounds fantastic!

01:14:53
Both the MA and the MFA of Game Development are split into various game dev disciplines. Do incoming students have an opportunity to sample a core set of classes before deciding which discipline to pursue?

01:14:55
does your photography program have a darkroom for film?

01:15:38
I wanna be an interior designer not decorator, do u offer that?

01:16:07
I'm also torn between the MA or MFA options - do there tend to be students that start out in MA and after one semester want to switch? (I'm assuming it can be a headache of a process to switch)

01:16:20
I would like to know the same thing, Alexis. Also, are we taught how to use our DSLRs?

01:16:49
are there any field trip opportunities throughout the semester? (photography student)

01:16:57
Thank you

01:17:03
How many hours should we plan to dedicate for part-time study? Do working professionals typically do part-time?

01:17:10
I’d like to know the same, Amber!

01:17:56
Im planning on going into advertising and looked at the degree plan of the MA and MFA would you still say that the MFA is best for backgrounds outside of art ?

01:19:16
okay thank you i'm doing film right now in my undergrad

01:19:45
I have an MA in English, and have been teaching at a university for almost a decade. I am 42 year old with the goal of adding the terminal degree and developing fine art and design skills that could support a career “pivot” and some of my current multi-discipline goals as a professor. Are there other students in this “later in life” population? I am also very interested in mural and community arts.

01:21:18
I’m planning on visiting in June during your intersession. are classes in in

01:21:57
If we are online or hybrid can we join photography field trips?

01:22:00
Emily, I'm 50 and have been a hairdresser for 30 years!

01:22:12
for our portfolios do you want us to take pictures of our work and submit it?

01:22:12
Same thing here Emily. MA in English and teacher. Interested in industrial design. Trying to career switch at 46

01:22:22
Can i get Ma in interior design and be ready for the market

01:22:25
I’m planning on visiting in June during Intersession. Is the campus open with classes going on?

01:23:38
Make sure to send in an email so we can all connect: Reid Raukar- Senior Director of AdmissionsEmail: rraukar@academyart.edu

01:23:42
Thanks for a great presentation! I'll set up a one on one ASAP. I have been working with Eve.

01:24:01
So Awesome.. Thanks Kevin and Nicole !!!

01:24:49
35 here

01:25:17
Never too late.

01:25:17
34 here

01:25:27
46 is still young in my opinion

01:25:32
@Emily it’s never too late to follow your passion 🙂

01:25:34
Can my portfolio be a link to my website?

01:25:50
Thank you Hector and Reid. Great job with the presentation.

01:26:12
Loving all the “mid-life” love folks—thank you 😊

01:26:30
I'm trying to coordinate a visit in March. There's a chance I might go to GDC this year and if so, I'd be in town

01:27:33
do you have any advice for undergrad students studying art and are interested in getting in the job market?

01:27:49
35

01:28:33
For a degree in industrial design, what would your portfolio include?

01:28:40
Will we receive feedback on our portfolio submission?

01:30:27
Plus, who reviews our work? Just admissions officers or do any of the faculty or dept heads give their input?

01:30:28
I plan on getting my MA in Fine Arts. Can someone help me navigate becoming a fine artist through this program?

01:31:57
I’m looking to apply for the fall 2022 semester and am thinking of applying by the end of this month, how long does it typically take to hear back on acceptance status?

01:33:30
if you do your application and everything is submitted, then you get accepted how long do you have to start the payment plans and everything financial.

01:34:01
I have a Masters in Business and I am enrolled in Interior Design & Architecture...Do you guide us to get all the creditation to be certifed Interior Design?

01:35:21
For those of us interested in becoming documentary journalists and fine artists, should we consider getting certificates in marketing (marketing ourselves) or business (so we have a better idea of how to grow our own businesses)?

01:35:26
Are the admissions counselor meetings done through zoom or just like a phone call?

01:36:13
What’s the difference between interior designer and architecture design

01:36:21
Someone may have asked this, but what does AA do to help students transition from graduate to employment?

01:36:36
Is Oliver Sin an instructor?

01:37:34
Academy of art

01:38:28
If i take interior architecture, can i work in other states and than CA

01:39:26
Reid Raukar- Senior Director of AdmissionsEmail: rraukar@academyart.edu

01:39:38
Thank you so much Reid and Hector!

01:39:50
Are we able to sample classes if we are not sure of the major to take?

01:39:57
Thank you so much!

01:40:03
Yes, the dots!

01:40:16
I definitely want to pursue a MA in photography and I feel confident in my ability to succeed as a student, but I was wondering if I should ALSO obtain a certificate in marketing or business since I don’t feel confident in my ability to succeed post-graduation (even though this is a passion of mine)

01:40:23
Thank you guys so much. This was really informative and I enjoyed it very much. Good luck to everyone applying!

01:40:28
Thank you! This was incredibly helpful and insightful

01:40:31
@Nicole- We can do some work to help you ahead of time. We really want to help you narrow it down before you start.

01:40:43
Thanks you all!

01:40:44
Thank you
